Want to nominate someone (or a team) for the Wall
of Fame?
The following excerpts from the Policy and Procedure
Manual for the Sports Heritage Wall of Fame will outline the criteria involved.
Article 2 - Classification of Members
1. There shall be three (3) categories of membership for induction in the
Sports Heritage Wall of Fame: (a) players, (b) builders, and (c) teams.
Article 3 - Eligibility for Induction
1. Player candidates shall be chosen based on extraordinary distinction
in one or more sports.
2. Builder candidates shall be chosen based on a major contribution to
the development or advancement of one or more sports.
3. Team candidates shall be chosen based on an extraordinary accomplishment
and representation from the Annapolis Valley and primarily from the central
Valley area.
4. Residency requirements for players or builders are: (a) born in the
counties of Hants, Kings, Annapolis, or Digby, or (b) resided in one of
these counties in their youth, or (c) resided in one of these counties
during the time of their accomplishment. For the purposes of this
Article, residency shall mean a period of at least five (5) years.
Article 4 - Posthumous Election
1. A deceased person is eligible for election with induction being conducted
posthumously.
2. An elected person who dies between their election and the induction
shall be inducted posthumously.
3. The Sports Heritage Wall of Fame Directors shall name the representative
for a posthumous induction.
Article 5 - Procedure for Nomination and Election
2. Any person may nominate a representative for any category provided the
nomination is presented to the Selection Committee in writing using the
appropriate nomination form and is substantiated with the fullest possible
information, dates and records of the accomplishments of the nominee.
3. All nominations shall be in the hands of the Secretary of the Selection
Committee at least six (6) months prior to the proposed induction date
and copies shall be provided to the other members as soon as possible.
